GREAT LIMBER PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the Parish Council meeting held on Wednesday 4th March 2026 at 7.00pm in the Village Hall.
Present: Cllrs S Hudson (Chairman); S. Acomb, S. Christmas, S Anderson, C Read, B Moor
In attendance: Cllr J Bean, Cllr O Bierley, Cllr A Lawrence, and the Clerk.
1. Co-option of Councillors: There is one vacancy for which there has been no interest.
2. Apologies for absence and reasons given: Cllr S Bedford
3. To receive declarations of interest in accordance with the Localism Act 2011: None
4. To approve the Minutes of the last meeting held on 7th January 2026: The minutes were approved and signed as a true record.
5. Chairman & Council's comments:
Cllr Hudson reported that the mirror had been fitted opposite church lane. Thanks to Cllr Bedford for his work on this. Cllr Anderson reported that the bank on Church Lane is encroaching into the road and making it narrow. Cllr Read will have a look at this. The bushes at the Church could also do with a trim. Cllr Hudson will follow this up with the church.
6. Clerk's Report on matters outstanding: Nothing to report
7. LCC Report: Cllr Bean reported that speed reduction at the crossroads is being considered by the Road Safety Partnership and no decision has been made. A request has been received asking if a people crossing sign could be installed near to the nursing home. Highways are looking into this. The budget has been set, and Council Tax has a 2.9% increase and the allowances for councillors has been frozen. There has been £2m extra put into roads for potholes and an extra £2m for drains. There is no progress on the bus service to the village.
8. WLDC Report: Cllr Bierley's report was circulated prior to the meeting there were no comments. Cllr Bierley said that the Great Limber Village Hall event guide that had been delivered to local households was excellent. The food waste commences on the 30thMarch.
9. Finance
- Accounts for payment: resolved to pay: Staff costs February £270.39, Staff costs March £270.39, J Milson £316.20 Traffic mirror, LALC £106.12 membership.
10. Planning: to discuss any applications: There were no planning applications to consider.
11. To approve IT Policy: resolved to approve the policy
12. Parish Matters:
- Path clearance – Cllr Bean has offered to follow this up. Clerk to apply to the volunteer scheme to see if they can be done under this scheme.
- Speed sign – Cllr Hudson has obtained 2 quotes for replacement units. A grant of £500 has been received from Cllr Bierley from the councillor initiative fund. Cllr Bean advised that he may be able to offer a similar grant, but the process has not yet been finalised. Cllr Acomb will investigate other options for the next meeting. Cllr Hudson to advise Cllr Acomb of the lamppost numbers that currently have the brackets for the speed sign.
- Litter pick – A community litter pick will take place on 21st March. Any volunteers should meet at the village hall car park at 10am. Cllr Christmas to co-ordinate this. Clerk to advertise on Facebook.
- Police response to fly-tipping – Clerk had written to the police to invite them to our meeting. They replied saying that it wasn’t something that they could commit to. Prosecutions for fly tipping are the responsibility of WLDC. The penalty has been increased to a maximum of £1000. Cllr Bierley will advise on the total number of prosecutions made. Cllr Read will continue to report all instances of fly-tipping.
