GREAT LIMBER PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the Parish Council meeting held on Wednesday, 7th January 2026 at 7.00pm in the Village Hall.
Present: Cllrs S Hudson (Chairman); S. Acomb, S. Christmas, S Anderson, C Read
In attendance: Cllr J Bean, Cllr O Bierley, Cllr A Lawrence, and the Clerk.
The chairman opened the meeting and wished everyone a Happy New Year.
1. Co-option of Councillors: There is one vacancy which would be nice to be filled. Cllr Hudson encouraged members to give some thought to possible candidates.
2. Apologies for absence and reasons given: Cllr B Moor, Cllr S Bedford,
3. To receive declarations of interest in accordance with the Localism Act 2011: None
4. To approve the Minutes of the last meeting held on 5th November: The minutes were approved and signed as a true record.
5. Chairman & Council's comments:
Cllr Hudson reported that the additional salt bin had been received so there are now two in the village. The speed monitor has been returned for repair again. It was decided to get prices for an additional sign that could be placed permanently on the High Street.

Cllr Anderson advised that a resident had contacted her regarding a pothole outside the Priest House. It has been reported on Fix My Street, LCC have been out to look at it, but nothing has been done. Cllr Bean said that if the Fix My Street reference can be forwarded to him he will follow this up. A resident has also asked if the bank on Church Lane could be cleared as it was restricting the footpath. Cllr C Read will investigate this. Cllr Anderson also said that the village Hall are holding a new mid-week mingle event every fortnight on Wednesdays through to March. This is open to everyone and is funded.
6. Clerk's Report on matters outstanding: Nothing to report
7. LCC Report: Cllr Bean advised that Anglian Water are going to force everyone onto a metered water supply. The executive councillor of the environment and the leader of the county council are making further enquiries regarding this. Cllr Bean is continuing to push for a bus service for the village and suggested we contact the adult services team at Lincolnshire CC to see if they can assist with this. Clerk to follow this up.
8. WLDC Report: Cllr Bierley's report was circulated prior to the meeting. Cllr Bierley advised that the Warm Home Grant is available to claim. Please see Apply for the Warm Homes: Local Grant to improve a home - GOV.UK The Household Support Fund is open and residents can claim on the online portal. Cllr Bierley also mentioned that there is a rebate available from Anglian Water if your surface water does not go into the Anglian Water system.
9. Finance: The balance in the bank on 31.12.25 was £7775.84
The clerk, Cllrs Christmas and Moor now have access to online banking. The payment schedule detailing payments was previously circulated.
- Accounts for payment: resolved to pay: J Milson £219.79, HMRC £50.60 for December, J Milson £219.79, HMRC £50.60 for January, AJ Williams £513.60 for grass cutting in October, AJ Williams £256.80 for grass cutting in November, S Hudson £23.99 postage.
- To approve & sign final precept figure: The final precept figure of £11,800 for 26-27 was approved and the form signed by the Chair, Cllrs Acomb and Anderson.
10. Planning: to discuss any applications: There were no planning applications to consider.
11. Traffic issues:
- Traffic mirror: It was resolved to purchase a traffic mirror to be placed at the junction of the A18 and Church Lane.
- Parking: Concerns have been raised regarding parking near the shop on Grasby Road. At times it makes the road very narrow. It was decided to monitor this
- Village Gates: Cllr Acomb shared some further examples of gates with prices. It was decided that we need to look for funding before this could be progressed. Cllr Bean said that he could arrange for more round signs to be painted on the road.
- Great Limber Crossroads: A resident had raised concerns following the two recent accidents at this junction. They asked if the 40-mph limit could be moved to the other side of the junction. Cllr Bean is happy to follow this up. Cllr Acomb to email Cllr Bean with the details.
12. Emails – Cllr Christmas advised that to comply with Assertion 10 on the AGAR form for 25-26 the council must have a generic email account hosted on an authority owned domain. It was resolved to purchase the domain and transfer onto gov.uk email accounts.
Cllr Read raised that there seems to be a lack of police presence. Fly tipping continues to be an issue and nothing gets resolved. Clerk to forward a recent email and invite them to a future meeting.
